XVII century Northern Russia. A British merchant Mark Donnan sets upon a journey to the land of the Pomors in search of the Frozen Songs. Part of the ancient trade, the locals freeze their traditional songs in the shape of ice ornaments, which release the songs back into the world when melted. As the times change, the Frozen Songs trade is banned and Donnan's arrival creates havoc in the village.
